Afriyie is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Axis Pension Trust, a licensed pensions management company in Ghana. Afriyie has a thorough understanding of Investment Management and Administration business; skills acquired from his 13 year industry experience.
He pioneered the establishment of Axis Pensions Group with operations in Ghana and Malawi. Axis is today the second largest private pensions administrator in Ghana with over GHS1.2b of assets under management.
Prior to founding Axis, Afriyie worked at Databank. During his six year stay at Databank, he established and managed employee benefit schemes for many blue chip organizations. Afriyie was in charge of institutional funds management business at Databank where he guided the firm to develop a positioning strategy for pensions and endowments funds.
Afriyie is a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School with a bachelors’ degree in Business Administration (Banking and Finance option). He is married and blessed with three children.
Ernest Kusi-Ababio is Chair of the Board of Directors of Axis Pension Trust Ltd. Ernest is a Pharmacist by profession with over 24 years experience in Pharmaceutical Management, Product Development and Marketing.
He is also the Executive Chairman of Palb Pharmaceuticals Ltd –the exclusive distributor for Lifescan Johnson and Johnson a US company, Pharmalab Inc in Canada and a distributor for Sandoz DD.
He has developed major brands like Vitafol (Pre-Natal Multivitamins), Amoksiklav (Anti-infective) and Nifecard XL (Antihypertensive) in the Pharmaceutical industry, with market leadership.
Ernest Kusi-Ababio holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration with emphasis on Entrepreneurship.
He is also a graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
Ernest is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana. He is married to Elizabeth. They are blessed with two children.
Maamle Totimeh is a member of the Board of Directors of Axis. She is also the Principal, Treasury and Administration at Mega African Capital. Maamle is responsible for the management of Mega African Capital’s fixed income investments, real estate and private equity functions and plays a key role in strategy formulation and execution in that company.
She has over 10 years’ Fund Management experience.
Maamle’s wealth of experience in Investment Management dates back to her previous work experience at Databank Asset Management Limited where she was Vice President and was responsible for the Mutual funds business unit with over 90,000 clients.
As Fund Manager for Databank Mfund, she was instrumental in growing Mfund from $15m to over $40 million in Assets as at the time left Databank. She was also Chief Investment Strategist responsible for Fixed Income at Databank Asset Management Limited.
Prior to joining Databank Asset Management Limited, she worked as a Fixed Income trader with Databank Brokerage Limited.
Maamle holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from University of Ghana and an Executive MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from University of Ghana Business School. She is married to Dr. Teddy Totimeh. They are blessed with three children.
Matthew is Financial Controller of Axis and a member of the company’s Board of Directors. He has over 10 years experience in treasury management, taxation, financial reporting and management controls.
He also has financial and management experience in the health, real estate, private media broadcasting sectors as well as United Nations Habitat projects.
Matthew served as Chief Finance Officer for the Ghana Slum Upgrading Fund, a UN Habitat project in Ghana. Prior to this appointment, Matthew was Finance Manager for Joy FM, a leading Business Unit in the group.
Matthew Mani is a Chartered Accountant with the ACCA (UK) and CA (Gh) and a product of University of Ghana Business School with a bachelors’ degree in Business Administration (Accounting option). He is married to Dr. Abena Oforiwa Mani. They have a son.
Robert M. Bennin is a member of the Board of Directors of Axis. He is also a Senior Advisor at TEMPLE Advisory, a specialist research-based training and advisory practice focused on accelerating the transformation of enterprises operating on the African continent.
Robert brings to the Board of Axis many years of technical and managerial experience acquired over the past decade working with top managers across Africa.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Robert trains directors of industry, CEOs, senior level executives and first line managers in Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa. His global perspective and intimate understanding of changes and trends taking place across several industries in emerging markets have made him an invaluable resource to leaders and organizations in their quest to resolve the challenges of building enduring and highly competitive enterprises.
Robert has been deeply involved in the development of financial services industry as an advisor and trainer of several leading companies including banks, finance houses, investment advisory firms, microfinance companies, etc.
He has a passion for enterprise transformation across the African continent, and has for the past ten years been sharing his ideas on marketing, leadership, strategy, and enterprise transformation through his writings, as a facilitator, trainer and a business coach.
Robert has been a trainer and/or facilitator at several institutions, including, Institute of Directors, Boardroom Institute, National Banking College, Association of African Business Schools, Endeavor South Africa's BootCamp for CEOs and Owner Managers, Graduate School of Governance & Leadership and Ghana Stock Exchange Professional Education Programme.
Robert Bennin has MSc in Economics and Finance from the Warwick Business School (UK) and B.A in Economics from University of Ghana. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and a CFA Charterholder and an Affiliate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
He is also a Professional Member of the Association for Talent Development in the U.S.A. Robert is married to Ewurama Bennin. The couple is blessed with a son.
Simon is co-founder, Chief Operating Officer of Axis and a member of the Board of Directors of the company. His background is in Finance and Economics with over 10 years experience in Investment Management and Administration.
He worked with Databank Asset Management Services Ltd., for 2 years, as a Fund Manager in the firm’s Private Wealth Management and Institutional & Real Estates sub-business units.
During his stay at Databank, he developed the concept and implemented the Databank Private Wealth Management Pooled Funds.
His experience prior to Databank was in derivatives trading and settlements with Morgan Stanley Inc. where he worked in that international investment bank’s offices in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States and later in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
A product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, he received a bachelors’ degree in Land Economy in 2002. He holds a masters’ degree in Financial Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, USA. He is married and blessed with two children.
