Afriyie is co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Axis Pensions Group and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Axis Pensions Ltd. (Rwanda). He has over 14 years’ experience in the Investment Management and Pensions industry. Afriyie has a thorough understanding of Investment Management and Administration business; skills acquired from direct field experience. He pioneered the establishment of Axis Pensions and the creation of systems, structures and operational strategies that have seen Axis become a leading pension provider in Ghana.
Prior to co-founding Axis, Afriyie worked at Databank. During his six years at Databank, he established employee benefit schemes for many blue chip organizations. Afriyie led the institutional funds management business at Databank and guided the firm to develop a positioning strategy for the pensions industry. He also steered several IT projects at Databank as technical analyst and guided software engineers to automate manual business processes.
Afriyie is a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School with a bachelors’ degree in Business Administration (Banking and Finance option). He is married with three children.
Mr. RAMBA is an experienced Banker, Investment and Finance Professional with a track record of success in Investment Banking, he is a seasoned investment executive with experience spanning over ten years in some of Rwanda’s biggest public institutions, he currently the Chief Operating Officer of BPR part of Atlas Mara.
Prior to that he served as the Deputy Director General in charge of Funds Management at Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) where his role arose out of his stellar performance as the Acting Director General of the Social Security Fund of Rwanda (SSFR) where he was responsible for steering the overall management, while at the security fund body, he managed the institution to prepare its transition to merge it with the government medical scheme. Prior to that he was the Director of Investments and Special Projects where he was responsible for managing SSFR’s $300 million investment portfolio across a number of asset classes. He helped to establish, grow and modernize the Investment Group from its nascent stage, resulting to several years of good performance.
Previously, he worked as a Bank Inspector in the National Bank of Rwanda where he used his accounting and audit background during forensic and statutory audits of several commercial banks as well as advising them on regulation compliance.
RAMBA has also served as the Chairman on a number of Boards such as Banque Populaire du Rwanda, CIMERWA, the biggest cement manufacturer in Rwanda; Rwanda Enterprise Investment Company (REIC), a venture capital fund and Building Materials Investments Company, one of the biggest construction material companies in Rwanda and Mount Meru Soyco Ltd, a regional oil manufacturing company. He also served as a member of the Rwanda Stock Exchange Index Committee. He is a member of the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA-UK) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from National University of Rwanda.
Simon is co-founder and Group Chief Operating Officer of Axis Pensions Group and non-executive director of Axis Pensions Ltd. (Rwanda). His background is in finance and economics with over 12 years’ experience in Investment Management and Administration. Simon is responsible for translating strategic management vision of Axis Pensions Group into deliverable activities for the group and its subsidiaries.
He worked with Databank Asset Management Services Ltd., for 2 years, as Funds Manager and developed and implemented the Databank Private Wealth Management Pooled Funds. His experience prior to Databank was in derivatives trading and settlements with Morgan Stanley Inc. in Baltimore, MD, USA and Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
Simon holds a masters’ degree in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, NY, USA. He is also a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he received a bachelors’ degree in Land Economy. Simon is married with two children.
Dr Shivon Byamukama is the Deputy CEO of Babyl Rwanda. She joined the company in August 2017 and is responsible for the implementation of the Babyl strategy in Rwanda. Prior to that she was the Company Secretary and Head of Corporate Affairs at Bank of Kigali. She is in charge of the Bank’s Legal Affairs and implementing good Corporate Governance practices for the Bank. Shivon also oversees the Bank’s, Investor Relations & Shareholder matters, Public Communications and is at the helm of implementing the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
Prior to joining Bank of Kigali, she was the Company Secretary and Chief Legal Officer for RwandAir, Rwanda’s national carrier. Shivon was an instrumental member of the team that transformed the airline which began operating its own aircraft in 2009, growing its fleet to 7 aircraft and its destinations to 14 She played a central role in the negotiations of all major aircraft transactions for the company including; the acquisition contracts of the aircraft, aircraft financing and insurance arrangements, aircraft maintenance and technical support contracts, corporation agreements with other airlines, and Bi-lateral agreements.
Shivon has also previously worked with the International Criminal Court at The Hague, Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, Rwanda National Bureau of Standards, Rwanda Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Investment Promotion in different capacities.
She is also one of the co-founders and shareholder of Falcon Capital Investments (FCI). Shivon serves on the boards of Rwanda Development Board and Victoria Motors- Rwanda. She was Awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship 2016.
Shivon has a PhD from Glasgow Caledonian University Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University- Uganda, and a Diploma in Legal Practice at the Law Development Centre, Kampala, Uganda.
Eric Quartey, until his appointment as Chief Executive Officer, was the pioneer branch manager of Axis Pensions Trust, Kumasi in Ghana. Prior to this role Eric Quartey was head of Retail Pensions. During his five year experience with Axis, he helped build the company’s retail pension portfolio from scratch to over $3m in 3 years.
He comes with admirable interpersonal and communication skills that make him a natural sales person. Recent exploits of Eric includes pioneering the establishment of a branch in Kumasi and building a strong retail client base for the branch.
As branch manager, Eric had mainly business development responsibilities covering relationship management; creating and developing sales pipeline; compliance monitoring, financial and investment advisory and management of branch personnel. He was also a member of the investment committee, and currently the chairman of the company’s Editorial committee.
Eric had short stints with All Risks Consultancy services where he sold life assurance policies, and offered advisory services on Life assurance policies. He also had the opportunity to set up and work with the direct sales team of multichoice Ghana to introduce Go Tv (Multichoices’ mass market product) to the Ghanaian Market. Eric’s career started as a National Service Personnel at the School of Medical Sciences KNUST, where he worked as an assistant systems administrator and a research assistant.
Eric holds an MSc in Financial Management from the Amitty University,India and a Bsc Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, and also an investment security course certificate from the Ghana Stock Exchange.
